Duke Energy is focused on grid fortification utilizing advanced technology to maintain a stable power supply in Florida, which withstands hurricanes and other disasters. According to data from the U.S. Optical Fiber Cable Trade Fair 2024 learned that data from the National Hurricane Center of United States shows that the peak of Atlantic hurricane season is September, with most storms occurring between mid-August and mid-October.

Over the past three years, the storm protection plan has fortified more than 40,000 utility poles.

 

Additionally, the company has undertaken measures such as building new substations and expanding existing ones to increase the capacity of the grid, thereby providing reliable service to customers.

 

During Hurricane Debbie, the company’s automated repair technology saved customers a total of over 12.5 million minutes of downtime and automatically restored power to more than 62,000 customer outages.
