Flexible HV solutions for shore connections and tight layouts

Prysmian Norway has been in direct contact with Aibel directly after the award’s announcement to secure the project. The contract will be for 601 tons of cables to be produced in 2019 and 2020. For Prysmian Group Germany the project value is around EUR 3,4m, which corresponds to 176 tons, where EUR 920k are for 132 kv Feltoflex and around EUR 2,4m are for RFOU.

Prysmian Group’s plant in Wuppertal is known world-wide for the unique HV voltage flexible cable, which is an optimal solution for shore connections and tight layouts. The rubber sheathed cable was recently exclusively requested in plenty of challenging projects.

The Johan Sverdrup Field is located in the North Sea, approx. 160 km west of Stavanger operated by Statoil. The field has an extent of approx. 200 km², and the water depth in the area is 110-120 m. Due to the size of the field, Johan Sverdrup will be expanded in several phases, where the first phase of development (phase 1) comprises a field center consisting of 4 platforms, 3 seabed installations connected to the field center, oil and gas export pipelines, and power transmission country.

Johan Sverdrup Phase 2, involves increasing process capacity in the field by building a new process platform (P2), connecting production facilities to the Avaldsnes, Kvitsøy and Geitungen satellite areas as well as power from land to Utsira Hill. The expansion is entitled to expand the production capacity of the field from 440,000 to 660,000 barrels of oil per day after startup in 2022. The Project’s overall value is around EUR 1,13b.
