Cable Show 2024 Industry News: Large Battery Charging in 10 Minutes is Now a Reality

Electric Vehicle (EV) Extreme Fast Charging (XFC) battery technology pioneer, StoreDot, Cable Show 2024 has learned that a prismatic battery can now be charged from 10% to 80% in just 10 minutes without compromising battery health and mileage. This breakthrough addresses the issue of charging speeds in the widespread deployment of electric vehicles.

Despite governments investing in expanding cable charging infrastructure to meet growing demand, after years of double-digit growth, sales growth slowed at the end of 2023. If the EV industry cannot overcome fast-charging technologies to alleviate consumer anxiety, it could lead to a loss of consumer trust. Currently, more than half of the respondents in the UK and Germany hesitate to purchase electric vehicles due to long charging times.

Cable Show 2024 has learned that XFC battery technology is now ready for mass production to meet global demands. The tested battery samples, with an 80Ah capacity, can be charged rapidly in 10 minutes without overheating, paving the way for the subsequent development of 160Ah batteries.

StoreDot’s XFC batteries are supported by a seasoned engineering team and battery design experts and offer a charging time reduction by half compared to other high-quality fast-charging models, without accelerating battery aging due to quick charging.

StoreDot has partnered with 15 OEMs, and the battery can be seamlessly integrated into existing EV architectures.
