Optical Fiber Cable Show 2024 Industry Insights: Ensuring the Operation of High Voltage Switchgear

High voltage switchgear mainly includes high voltage circuit breakers, high voltage disconnecting switches and earthing switches, high voltage load switches, high voltage automatic reclosers and sectionalizers, high voltage operating mechanisms, high voltage explosion-proof distribution devices, and high voltage switchgear cabinets. Optical Fiber Cable Show 2024 has learned that their voltage levels generally range from 3.6kV to 550kV. They play crucial roles in power systems for generation, transmission, distribution, power conversion, and consumption by enabling connection and disconnection, control, and protection.

Optical Fiber Cable Show 2024 learned that high voltage switchgear occupies an extremely important position in the manufacturing industry of power transmission and transformation equipment. It is widely used in distribution systems to receive and distribute electric energy. According to the needs of grid operation, part of the power equipment or lines can be put into or out of operation. It can also quickly isolate the fault part from the grid when equipment or line faults occur. This ensures both the normal operation of the non-faulty parts of the grid and the safety of equipment and maintenance personnel. Therefore, the safe and reliable operation of high voltage switchgear is extremely significant for power systems.

The normal operating temperature for high voltage switchgear should not exceed 40°C (upper limit). In general areas, it should not fall below -5°C, and in severely cold areas, it can drop to -15°C.

If the ambient temperature is too high, the conductivity of metals will decrease, resistance will increase, surface oxidation will intensify, and the lifespan of internal insulating components will be significantly reduced, leading to decreased insulation strength. In low environmental temperatures, internal stresses may develop in the insulating components, causing damage to the insulation.
