Wire and Cable Exhibition 2024 News - Upgrades to Public Electric Utilities
Last year, a company applied for a rate adjustment to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU). The utility company stated that since the last rate review in 2020, over $794 million had been invested to enhance the reliability of the electric grid infrastructure and upgrade substations. According to the news,Wire and Cable Exhibition 2024 has learned these upgrades significantly increased cable load capacity and extended the lifespan of equipment.
Moreover, there are smart devices capable of predicting power outage failures and promptly switching to backup circuits, transferring users' equipment to an alternative power source before any outage occurs.
The company announced plans to invest an additional $185 million to strengthen the energy supply network, enhance customer experience, and provide discounts for low-income and elderly groups.
As informed by the company, Wire and Cable Exhibition 2024 knows, for a monthly usage of 780 kilowatt-hours, the total rate is expected to increase by approximately 7.5% if the project is approved.
The proposal also suggests adding more than $10 million annually to the company’s budget for preventing natural disasters that could affect the operation of the electric grid, such as various hurricanes and vegetation that could impact transmission efficiency on critical circuits.
