Wire Trade Fair 2024 Cable Industry Trends: SPE and Real-Time Data Meet the Demand for Rapid Connections
Wire Trade Fair 2024 believes that the demand in the cable industry has always been for faster, more convenient, and more durable products. A product manager in the industry expressed the view that "many small machines require cables with smaller bending radii and also lighter cables. The products have been upgraded according to market demands, for example, Single Pair Ethernet, where only a pair of conductors is needed to transmit data up to 1Gbit when the cable is retracted and the transmission length is appropriate."
In the past, all variable frequency drive manufacturers had two cables: one for data and one for power. Data was transmitted using analog or bus technology, not in real time.
Over the past few years, the demand for hybrid cables has continued to grow, with data and power/control combined in one cable (single cable solution) becoming mainstream. Wire Trade Fair 2024 understands that today, new motion control systems all use Ethernet protocols, which can now achieve real-time data transmission.
Industry insiders say, "The sockets on the equipment need to be adapted to the corresponding size of PCB, which means materials and smaller casings. With the use of SPE, only one pair of cables is needed, which not only reduces weight but also, due to the use of fewer materials, the bending radius is smaller. Compared to traditional RJ45 connectors, its anti-vibration protection performance is also very superior.
Furthermore, due to the deepening awareness of environmental protection, the materials used in the manufacturing process of new cables produce fewer harmful fumes and solutions compared to PVC compounds, making them easier to recycle.
