Optical Fiber Cable Trade Fair 2024 News: Pastel B Process Can Reduce Carbon Emissions in Cable Manufacturing
Clearly distinguishable wire colors make operations more convenient. Optical Fiber Cable Trade Fair 2024 has learned that compared to traditional marking methods, the new technology "Pastel B" is a more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly cable marking method.
Taking data cables used in Ethernet wiring as an example, in the cables, each pair of wires includes an A wire and a B wire, which are identified by standardized color coding.
This method is also known as ring marking. The marking process involves the use of spray guns, which can lead to certain waste and pollution, and the evaporation of paint can cause health issues. Additionally, some spray paints do not adhere well, making cable assembly more time-consuming and labor-intensive.
Later, a new method was developed in industrial applications, which involves adding green, orange, blue, or brown longitudinal stripes on the white conductor insulation layer. These stripes are made of the same material as the insulation itself, consisting of plastic pellets, but they are not paint, so there is no odor or carbon dioxide pollution. However, this process requires an additional tape extruder and additional investment.
Now, a more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient process called Pastel B has been developed. The advantage of the Pastel B process is that it does not use varnish or solvents, and no harmful chemicals are released into the environment during use. It can be performed on standard extruders with colored feeders, without the need for additional tape extruders. This not only reduces investment costs but also lowers energy consumption.
The Optical Fiber Cable Trade Fair 2024 has learned that experimental results show that using Pastel B can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 15%. It also reduces the number of tools that need to be stored and maintained during the manufacturing process, and the product marking is clear and indelible. Both in terms of cost and sustainability, it offers significant advantages.
