Wire and Cable Exhibition 2024 News - igus's e-skin Series Prevents Electrostatic Discharge During Production
Although minor, electrostatic discharge can still lead to irreversible consequences in product manufacturing. Therefore, the Wire and Cable Exhibition 2024 has learned that the electronics and semiconductor industries need to install additional components to release static electricity during production.
igus has added an ESD variant to its e-skin flat series. The new black e-skin flat is made of electrostatic dissipative material. This new type of modular flat cable material can prevent electrostatic discharge from the chain, ensuring that no particles are generated when the material moves quickly.
Kira Weller, product manager for igus's e-chain, said, "The new e-skin flat ESD better meets the needs of our customers, especially for the production of more precise electronic components."
The Wire and Cable Exhibition 2024 has learned that the latest e-skin flat has been applied in igus's highest-level laboratory.
Weiss, a customer of igus, has expressed high praise for the e-skin flat ESD. When moving quickly, igus's flat cable is quieter and more wear-resistant than classic corrugated tubing.
Weller stated, "In PTFE flat cables, the twisted cores are welded within the continuous flat cable and cannot be separated. If a single wire breaks, the user must replace the entire thing. This is not only time-consuming but also labor-intensive. In contrast, the e-skin flat uses CFCLEAN cable cores to transmit energy, motor control, bus, and Ethernet signals. This allows users to directly connect to the energy supply system from a single source, which is a significant advantage compared to common PTFE flat cables."
