Nexans wins umbilical contract from McDermott for BP’s greater Tortue Ahmeyim project

Nexans will provide management, procurement, engineering, manufacturing and testing activities for the umbilicals and ancillary hardware.

The Tortue field is located approximately 120 km offshore the coast of Mauritania and Senegal and its subsea system includes a total of 4 wells.


Paris La Défense, August 28, 2019 – McDermott Marine Construction Limited has awarded a contract to Nexans for the supply of approximately 100 km subsea umbilicals and accessories for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim natural gas project offshore Mauritania and Senegal.

Under the terms of the contract, Nexans will provide management, procurement, engineering, manufacturing and testing activities for the umbilicals and ancillary hardware.

The electrical cables and fibre optics will be manufactured at Nexans Norway plant in Rognan and the umbilicals will be developed, manufactured and tested at Nexans Norway specialized plant in Halden. The delivery will take place in 2021.
